The bread pudding desert absolutely blew my mind. I'm a sucker for a good desert and it was insane. Chicken fried steak was meh. Service was top notch.

They say when you were looking for a place to eat, go where the locals go. The locals in the Woodlands go to The Republic Grille. Amazing daily specials, including daily dessert specials as well as drink specials. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I love sitting in the big booths or even outside on the outdoor patio. Depending on when you visit you may have to be prepared to wait, but it's definitely worth it. My favorite dish is the Woodlands chicken.

After my strawberry walnut salad that I had in San Diego I was craving more, and lo and behold, The Republic Grille. We were lucky that the temperature dropped to 79 degrees on this February day so we sat outside! I dunno why we're craving Fish N Chips, but one of us was and it was devoured, and I of course had my favorite salad. But you know how you have these special moments in time where you just want a repeat, then you try and duplicate it and it just falls flat? This was one of those moments. Don't get me wrong the salad was delicious, it had chicken and it was cooked to perfection but I wasn't too crazy about the Pepto-Bismol dressing, just a little too pink for me and the flavors...I dunno, I think coming from San Diego I was hoping to get the same type of salad but...it was missing something. Same with Mr. G, he said his wedge salad fell short too. Another bummer was the Peach Cobbler, it was bland and not sweet at all. Service was spectacular. Super sweet waiter. Maybe we just order something different next time. I wont' give up on this place though, I'll be back!

This is my second trip to Houston and The Republic Grille and I highly recommend this restaurant. Has a local feel with great energy. The food has never disappointed. As a solo traveler, I sit at the bar and Courtney K at the bar has always given great, friendly service.

This is one of our favorite restaurants and we have ate here at least 5 times in the past 30 days at least. We have tried pretty much everything on the menu and it's always good. Service is always top notch and management is awesome. Parking can suck sometimes and I think that's probably the biggest issue I have ever had. Which is something they really can't do anything about. Lighting is perfect for the type of restaurant.

Years ago, my family and I went on a road trip and stopped at this place on the way. We had the Calamari, Mac & Cheese Bites, and Pecan Pie, and still remembered them years later. I remember thinking that this pecan pie was the best pecan pie in the world. Therefore, we had to come back after such a long time to see if it still lived up to the reputation we raved so much about! The appetizers, the Calamari and Mac & Cheese Bites, were as amazing as I remembered. Both dishes were fried very well, with the calamari's breading being super light and airy and the bites being crispy on the outside while creamy on the inside. In addition, both had good dipping sauces. I could absolutely drink the calamari's garlic wine sauce! These two are definitely must try's! The desserts, the Southern Pecan Pie and Blackberry Pie, were also phenomenal. However, they are both seasonal, so make sure to catch them when you can! I can confidently say these two are some of the best desserts you'll have in your life. However, there is still room for improvement. My Shrimp Scampi heavily lacked in salt and could use more flavor. In addition, the Tres Leches was extremely dry, and it seemed as though the milk only reached the top layers of the cake and didn't make it to the bottom. Overall, I do feel like this restaurant was as good as I remember. Unfortunately, I live around over an hour away and can't visit as much as I would like. So, do yourself a favor and come here when you're close. You won't regret it!

Why 4 stars? Because everything we tried here was perfectly solid. --- --- --- When I think of a 4-star rating, our experience at The Republic Grille is the picture of that. Every single thing I ate was good. Nothing was amazing, nothing was just okay. It was all right there in that 4-star sweet spot. I ordered the Republic Burger with fries and also added on a side the sweet potato cakes. I was intrigued by the sweet potato cakes because I love sweet potatoes and these were a highlight on Yelp. I expected them to taste unremarkable based on the fact that they looked like they were just out of a can. But looks can be deceiving, as these were absolutely drenched in some kind of syrupy concoction. I really enjoyed them, but they were definitely more of a dessert than a side dish. As you already know from the way I started this review, the burger and the fries were... enjoyable. We came here because my wife was craving chicken fried steak and had read that Republic Grille had a good one. We liked the flavor of it here, but agreed that the ratio of breading to meat was a bit heavy on the breading side. The mashed potatoes and mac-n-cheese were a nice pairing. We finished with some strawberry shortcake and carrot cake. Maybe I spoke too soon in saying that every dish was 4-stars, because that strawberry shortcake was pretty damn incredible. That was the highlight for me, and also was quite an impressive size. It's no surprise that The Republic Grille has nearly 1,000 reviews as of this writing. You could certainly do a lot worse than picking this as your destination for lunch or dinner.
